In the innerdance process, we revisit a childlike state of mind while being adults. From an energetic point of view, there is a considerate increase of electricity traveling from the base of the spine to the brain stem, reaching out to the thalamus and from there, sent to appropriate areas of the brain, crossing both hemispheres via corpus callosum.
Such an event can, in most cases, induce to epileptic seizures and/or activate areas of the body-mind responsible for the autonomic nervous system enabling movement while also acting on the Broca’s area, which allows the brain to sequence information streams in linear formats and when it is rebooted by vast amounts of energy, the mind is either refreshed or is altered - from sequential thinking modes, the mind shifts to seeing symbols in visual-spatial mappings within a non-linear awareness. What does it mean to say we go back to the womb?
Metaphorically, we are sent back into memories of childhood, of being a fetus, of giving birth; we are given the opportunity to watch an entire life spam of the universe through our lenses and unravel aspects of our personal stories that are now much more global than we ever thought. We are back into the zero point, where everything has already happened and everything can be conceived once again. Neurologically, such phenomena happens due to the release of neurotransmitters (dopamine and others) and activation of areas that hold space for memory in the brain, reenacting stages of consciousness which are known but forgotten; just like it happened when we were fetuses, we are now in the REM (Rapid eye movement) state, dreaming of the reality to come.
How is the REM the origins of consciousness?
In the baby’s REM state, deep learning is happening without our conscious consent. We move as we are moved, and in the process of awakening from our patient flow, a slow and organic growth is taking place.
During its final weeks in the womb, the fetus is sleeping almost 90% of the time, 85% of this sleep duration in an REM state.
The 32- to 34-week-old fetus is at its neurological peak, when synaptic connections between neurons are at its full potential. Before language, the newly born baby’s brain will have 100 billion neurons. When it grows into language, its adult self will have shrunk its neural capacity to only 50 billion neurons.
As the baby undergoes the long procession to adulthood, life will slowly lose its dreaminess. The average adult will spend 2/3’s of the day awake and only 15 to 25% of the sleep state in REM.
