In the spiritual process, the compost is a life event called the Dark Night of the Soul. In this stage, all that we considered realities come into phases of addiction, depression, suicide. The imaginary foundations we have long built crumble away in what used to be called the mid-life crisis, which now happens in much younger humans unable to cope with meaningless living.
It's in the Dark Night that the Life Review takes place, the womb moment described by an esteemed Filipino author Jaime Licauco, who wrote an article in the Philippine Daily Inquirer in 2010 after experiencing the innerdance a first time:
I went into a trance and fell from my chair to the floor into a journey from my adult life to childhood and then birth. I saw inside the womb of my mother, then went further in time until I reached my present age. It was an inner rebirth, a powerful experience I can not forget.
Alongside Jaime's words, we hearken back to Jacki's sharings:
as I heard Pi ask “how old are you?,” I suddenly witnessed the process of creation; I saw time go back to the beginning and then speed up through the unfoldment of the manifestation of life. I saw worlds and universes being created. The sun arose and then set as the Earth came into form. I was somehow feeling and remembering what it all signified.
Juxtaposing Jaqui and Jaime's sharings, we come to a Theory of Regression - two manners of returning to historicity, from the personal and the planetary.
The first man to fully devote himself to the Theory of Dream noticed the same convergences in psychoanalysis. Sigmund Freud, in his book Interpretation of Dreams writes: “Dreaming is on the whole, an example of regression to the dreamer's earlier condition, a revival of his childhood, of the instinctual impulses which dominated it and of the methods of expression where were then available to him. Behind this childhood of the individual we are poised a picture of a phylogenetic childhood - a picture of the development of the human race, of which the individual's development is in fact an abbreviated recapitulation influenced by the chance circumstances of life."
According to Nietzsche, “in dreams, some primeval relic of humanity is at work which we can now scarcely reach any longer by direct path."
Freud continues, “we may expect that the analysis of dreams will lead us to a knowledge of man's archaic heritage, of what is psychically innate in him. Dreams and neuroses seem to have preserved more mental antiquities than we could have imagined possible so that psycho-analysis may claim a high place among the sciences which are concerned with the reconstruction of the earliest and most obscure periods of the beginnings of the human race.”

the regression hypothesis
The Regression Hypothesis predicts that the process according to which a language is forgotten will be the reversal by which it was learned. The theory was first formulated in linguistic terms by Roman Jakobson in 1941, especially associated with Aphasia, a condition by which people lose their capacities to comprehend or produce speech.
Jakobson posits that there is a possibility that the ego death is inversely synonymous with our return to childhood. He observed patterns in the way people lose their language and mental functions, theorising that the mind is able to reverse its stages of growths, when afforded its experience of time's cycle of eternal return.
The white canvass, tabula rasa, newness, the suspension of judgment, absolute trust, the animal’s natural instinct, the baby’s precognitive intuitions - such are the gifts a Theory of Regression bring into deeper context.
Jakobson's hypothesis opens the space for wondering about the simultaneous structuralism in the “forgetting-remembering” of Who We Are, extending the reaches of developmental psychology far beyond just the minds of infants and small children. Adults too, can become like babies, given a chance to regrow and reintegrate as Whole Beings that maintain their childlike qualities.

When Filipino filmmaker Epy Quizon took this video, he captured a moment months after I had first returned from the island. I was being asked by spirit to connect with a tribal origins with the innerdance, called to visit the Caves of the Northern Philippines where the oldest bones were found storing the knowledge of an ancient past, as so much energies were coursing through some people who held similar remembrances in their bodies in the early stages of the innerdance process. |

The Dancer Within was meant to be a movie produced and directed by a famous actor in the Philippines. It started from a strange event that took place in Epy Quizon's house, resulting in a journey into the deep recesses of Earth memory, channeled by Philippine mystics preserving the vibratory frequencies still palpable in the spirit places they still inhabit. From the meetings of the personal and planetary, innerdance emerged in the years 2009 to 2010, before it moved to other places in the world where other forms of memory come into re-membrance.
