Light language

This video from 2010 features one of the first active innerdance facilitators, an Australian named Christian Young.  His sharings helped to open many vistas on the energy process as a pathway for electricity and flow states for many others. When he began his journey, he was a manager for a corporation in Australia.  After he experienced innerdance, he eventually quit hius job and discovered a Light Language, a form of verbal gibberish that frequently and naturally comes out in the many processes.

It goes by many terms: Light language, gibberish, speaking in tongues, channeling, toning, baby talk, alien communication.

Around the world, the phenomena comes about in the heightened state.  The tribal traditions understand aspects of it, as do religious ceremony, shamanic work, psychedelic journeys, kundalini awakenings.
The first time I underwent the experience was also during my first innerdance.  I heard the words, "it began in Africa."  Suddenly, my body exploded in sound, singing in strange vocalizations of an impossible range.  In highs and lows, I felt openings in my brain, nose and mouth, all the way through my throat, chest and belly regions.  Energies flushed through as sounds emanated, information flowing through my body that was wildly being thrown about like a rag doll with a purpose.

Later, I watched the same thing happen in people who allowed themselves to sound and be sounded.

where might it all have began?

A few months before the experience I had just shared, I found an old scrabble set.  My family loves this game, coming from a literary background.  Having noone to play with, I invented a solitaire scrabble, a way of playing endless hours alone.

Scrabble is a descendant of a much older practice called Anagram, where letters are rearranged in many possible ways, thought by early thinkers to reveal mystical properties hidden in language. For those wishing to understand the mechanisms at work in innerdance (especially in how music playlists function), combinatory functions in letters mirror the combinatory elements at play in other semiotic systems : images, movements, sounds,  time units, geometries, shapes, etc.

There were various causes that brought about the innerdance in my body. The period I spent uncombining and recombining words in my scrabbled solitude was one of the major determining factors leading to the severe changes my brain underwent.

After a few weeks of playing with the Scrabble Set, I had noticed various things:

1.) Where I would look, I found that I was rearranging letters automatically in my brain, so that the definitive meanings of things like house, tree, sand, beach, water, earth, heavens morphed and melded into other meanings.

2.) I realized later that there were energies in letters, but the real meanings in them were in the spaces in between the letters.  The combination of the sounds had historicities, pastness, oldness.  As if all the possible combinations were tried out by animals and proto-humans prior to our arrival at the bi-lobe brain, where we are able to limit combinatory connections that previously was not possible.

3.) And that somehow, the combinatory energies in language are somehow stored in our bodies.  Upon letting loose the language centers that bounds meanings in sequential thought, our bodies would remember the hidden combinations inhibited by the left brain.

Here is where language, body, sound, culture, memory, brain, history, meanings come together, even as the patterns in all these are broken down, reconfigured in infinite ways.

The innerdance remembers Language from its origins, one of the most elusive inquires in all of Science (primarily because memory exists only through stages in language; origins wonder at what was prior to memory and communication).

Babies utter the phonemic sounds that make up the thousands of spoken languages in earth. As adults learn to speak like Earth, so do we become Her.  Facilitators learn to honor innerdance experiences almost as artifacts from an understanding of Time and Space given those vantages of beginnings, roots, rawness.

How can we speak of everything that wants to be spoken?

Across our history, many have been the changes and evolutions in our ways of communicating. We shifted the words and sounds uttered all in the search of a state of resonance, the moment in which the words spoken out reflect the reality experienced within. The journey towards transformation becomes the observation of the dance between the different elements that are all combined, compressed, condensed in the body-mind that slowly learns how to convert what is emergent.
In spiritual circles, we often hear that Light Language is the authentic language spoken by our truest selves, something that heals deep wounds and opens doors to inner truths. It is common to hear also that people feel a big sense of connection to source and freedom when allowing the not so familiar sounds to come through. The boundaries and rules embodied through the natural languages we learn as we grow (English, Portuguese, Spanish etc.) are not present anymore: something has broken down and the patterns that once made up the body-mind, the rules of grammar, the social norms one must follow, are not as strict as they used to and new combinations, new selections of sounds, created by the dance within, are finally able to express what has always been present and yet spoken.

We are in constant conversations with the world and constantly receiving, processing information. We carry ancient memories of the entire cosmos within us. Often we sense that somethings cannot be fully translated, or that there is a meaning behind what is expressed in the space. When going back to the structural aspects of Language and how the connection between the sign (word) and the meanings (what they represent) has been guided by a deep sense of arbitrariness, we begin to see how Light Language is a new, yet very old way of speaking. Something that shows us how much our communication is yet to be expanded. Participants that experience Light Language, for example, often share that they understand each other, or can somehow make sense of what is being said by those who speak in such codes.

The new codes that emerge from the experience are portals through different dimensionalities. If Language is built in time, the scrabbled experience is a mere representation of what happens with time itself when the different combinations of sound are played with. Cause and effect are no longer linear and the mind opens itself for its multidimensional state of being. By breaking the rules of language and the linearity of time, we witness stories, memories, emotions, all at once in a space where boundaries do not separate, where magic happens in different codes and where we find new meanings, welcoming the birth of consciousness. This multidimensional aspect of our existence can be observed when participants share, for example, the different sounds and codes emerging. As if the one dimension image that is narrowed down to one interpretation finds new angles to be looked. The human body-mind and the many parts of it, emotions, memories, personalities, abilities etc., is speaking to us and in the innerdance space it finds new ways of expressing what is across time and across the boundaries of the preconceived words, the deeper layers of the (super)unconscious mind. This can also be observed in the written forms of Light Language - when people start drawing in codes and shapes other than the familiar and conventional signs already agreed upon to be used (our words) - and with the hand signs/mudras that the body instantly and naturally begin to perform, which also offer insights for future conversations on the connections between movement and Language.
