RIGHT-HEMISPHERE DISINTEGRATION (RHD)
In the innerdance, participants experience the movement towards the right brain hemisphere’s non-verbal thought process. Our spacious right brain processes information very differently from linear word sequence.

To one with RHD, literal interpretation of figurative imagery makes the dreamscape come alive. No longer is the saying “it’s raining cats and dogs” just figurative. In healing processes, low latent inhibition opens us to the dreamworld where rain literally is cats and dogs. How does this inter-hemispheric disturbance happen? Our two brain hemispheres are joined. When we sever the left and right’s connections that organize time and space, the events and places we store in a Time Cloud tumble down as a rain of felt emotions, real remembrances and our past mental constructions.

Without the pain-avoidant, pleasure-seeking patterns to guide our movements, our bodies move from our more instinctive gestures. Right-hemisphere disintegration is the aphasia of the right brain. Because the right brain processes language in the visual-spatial, when we lose our ability to decipher between the literal and figurative, what is figurative in the mind could also be taken as a literality. RHD allows a disentangling of old story-lines, associations of symbolic imprints and emotional patterns. RHD is a regression into new possibilities, a chance to move into a no-story, so that new stories might come alive.
As we disintegrate time sequences, we arrive at unregulated awareness in space, leading to a hyper-priming into the semantic network – that which holds meaning structures through a network of data spread throughout the body. We are now moving from the structures of story, the syntagmatic axe, to the paradigmatic, where meanings, events, thoughts and emotions coexist all at once – a space prior to the notions of causation.
